Anxious Ocean & the Moonbathers
Over a short period of time the oceans have been saturated with human leftovers and their genetic footprints. These DNA carrying plastics permeated into micro organisms transferring their human like traits to the aquatic residents. The marine life now lives in an anxious ocean infused with human consciousness.
‘The Anxious Ocean and the Moon-Bathers’ depicts one day in this post human world.

Un Sedicesimo, 2019
L'Oceano Nervoso & i Bagnanti della Luna explores the themes of eco-womanism and dreams of the biodiversity born in the post-anthropocene era. Over a short period of time, punctuated evolution has saturated the oceans with human leftovers and their genetic footprints. These plastic-carrying DNA permeated into microorganisms transferring their human-like traits to the inhabitants of the sea. The marine life now lives in an anxious ocean infused with human consciousness. L'Oceano Nervoso & i Bagnanti della Luna depicts one day in this non-human world.

Anxious Ocean & The Moon Bathers, Installation
Somerset House Trust, 2019
Speculating on a post-human future where Somerset House is once again below water and human activity no longer dominates the planet, visitors are transported to an underwater ecosphere where life on earth is still feeling the heavy footprints of humanity. Diving into the depths, a place and time far away from the lives of modern-day Londoner’s, the installation explores the idea of consciousness and psychoevolution while addressing our current anxiety around the subject of climate change.
Anxious Oceans: aquatic stories from the post-anthropocene continues Hyphen-Labs’ standing interest in exploring marginalization and the impact on those who don’t have a voice.
Today the oceans are bombarded by seemingly endless streams of plastic at an unprecedented scale. Anxious Oceans explores our ongoing relationship between oceans and the impact of humanities capitalism, consumerism and the consciousness it holds.
This exhibition speculates on the mental states of the ocean and its residents as acidification, overfishing, and pollution of its waters steadily increase and implications are globally ignored.
Visitors are invited to engage with future sea-creatures, ponder the unseen and distant impacts of everyday city life that are reflected in consumer culture, and re-imagine the legacy of humanity through the eyes of the ocean.
